The minimalist bandwagon has made a pit stop in my home.
I am on a mission to get rid of things that are no longer needed or useful. If it is taking up space, it’s outta here. If it is a decorative piece in a style I am no longer into, it’s gone.
That being said, I have come across items that really have no place being here in my home as long as they have.
Why am I still holding on to:
(*) Two Boppies: My daughter is 2; we ran out of the need for even a single boppy many moons ago, yet here we are with two of them. Why are they still here? Who knows. I suppose it is better than having four boppies which is what I received at my baby shower; you tend to stop showing elation after opening the third boppy.
Anywho, one boppy was given away, one boppy was returned and that left us with two. And now, they both just need to go. Although my cat has been using one of them as his own personal nap space, so I don’t think he’ll be too thrilled with the vanquishing of the boppy.
(*) Old DVD’s and CD’s: This refers to movies and music that really and truly will never be watched or listened to again. These discs are bugging the heck out of me, mocking me, taunting me with the “What if you get rid of us, and then realize you wanted to listen to us?” Maybe, maybe not. But I am pretty sure I am not going to revisit Lenny Kravitz’s Are You Gonna Go My Way anytime soon. Seriously, I’ve had that CD since high school. It’s time for it to find a new home.
(*) An Old Blender: It doesn’t even work! Am I the only one that is holding on to items that don’t serve their original purpose? To really rub my nose in it, the blender hasn’t worked properly in a very long time, which means… yes when we moved back in January, we did cart this blender to our new location. Yes, we are those people. Sigh…
Are you guys holding on to stuff that is no longer useful?
