You’ve all read about the fabulous ways one can save money: Turn off the lights! Use batteries! Coupon till you love it! Make your own clothes!
I admit that there are tips out there that can save you money. But there are others that are just… well… I mean c’mon! Some of them don’t make sense!
Some of my “favorites”:
Your landline is the problem: No, my landline is not the problem. I’d cut it off if I could, but it’s not an option. There have been way too many occasions to name, where I have been without a viable source of getting a hold of someone because the cell phone is not working. When you have a small child, you need some way of communicating with the outside world, should any emergency arise.
Cellular phones, as
tethered attached to them as we may or may not like to be, are still pieces of technology that sometimes don’t work. And that’s where the landline comes in handy.
Look, I like candles as much as the next girl. But there is a fine line between romantic and/or decorative, and a room looking like an altar and a sacrifice is about to take place.
I use electricity as sparingly as a I possibly can. And with it being Summer and nightfall not happening until after 8pm, that definitely helps with the wattage use.
But I need light. Especially at night. I am clumsy and no light, might make a simple trip down the hallway quite perilous.
Load a full dishwasher: Also known as “Only turn on the dishwasher once it is full”. “This saves water!”
Are there really people out there who turn the dishwasher on with only a spoon and a bowl to show for it? Who are these people?
Sew your own clothes: I can’t sew. But even if I could, I don’t think I’d save money on this front. And that whole clumsy factor would kick in and knowing my luck, I’d stab myself with the needle.
Are there any “ways to save money” that you think are a bit unrealistic?
