So, I have a subscription to Shape Magazine. No worries, it’s a free subscription so it’s totally frugal 😉 One of the things I love about Shape, is that they have great fitness tips and healthy recipes that I can incorporate into my meal plan. But every so often, they offer up products that are in my opinion, cuckoo for cocoa puffs. Super expensive items, that the average female probably cannot afford such as $300 eye-cream or workout gear that would set you back a couple hundred dollars. But this my friends, takes the cake…
Without further adieu, here is Exhibit A:
Yes, that’s right folks. $1400 for dumbbells. Really.
Now I am all for getting healthy. Heck, I have my own workout regimen that I have incorporated and I know the importance of feeling your best. But really??? This is beyond ridiculous. Dumbbells are not a necessity in your life, never mind the crazy price tag. I mean, who has $1400 just sitting around burning a hole in their pocket, to be able to spend this much money on… dumbbells?
And I guess my favorite part is that Shape says that if you can’t afford these dumbbells, you can always pin this picture to Pinterest. *heavy sigh* Yes, because that’s what I want to do with my day; pin pictures of super expensive exercise equipment in the hopes that it will somehow motivate me to workout.
Newsflash: $1400 dumbbells do not, even a little bit, motivate me in any way shape or form, to exercise or eat right, or watch my caloric intake, etc… And I am pretty sure many folks feel the same way.
I just don’t understand why Shape didn’t just advertise the $10 dumbbells that they have listed in parenthesis? That’s what readers want to see Inexpensive ways to get their fitness on and stay healthy and looking fabulous on a budget. That is what we want, amiright?
So dear readers, what do you think? Are these overpriced dumbbells worth the heavy price tag?
